Conflict Communication

Conflict can be a source of significant stress and frustration in even the best workplaces. It can derail projects, lead to burnout, cause good employees to needlessly leave and waste huge amounts of time and money. Wherever people interact, some level of conflict is inevitable. It can’t be supressed or eliminated. But what if you had a framework to understand the underlying mechanisms and deal with it effectively?

That is exactly what ConCom will give you. After completing the training members of your team will be able to recognise what is going on under the surface on interpersonal conflicts and possess the skills to resolve them effectively.

This is not a collection of “communication hacks” or a quick fix patchwork program. ConCom is a well-rounded, comprehensive framework for understanding human conflict and effective communication. Originally developed for use in high stress, high risk situations with no margin for error, this is the most robust and applicable conflict resolution program available today.

Structure and Content

The Conflict Communication program is structured around three modules:

Module one introduces the psychological models used in the program and the foundations of the methodology. This creates a common language for participants and allows a deep enough understanding that improvisation under the complex conditions of human communication is possible.

Module two includes the key concepts of the program, showing how most interpersonal conflict is scripted to prevent change in social groups, in some cases to the detriment of the individuals involved or the goals of the group. It then covers the methodologies for resolving these conflicts constructively.

Module three includes specific techniques and tricks for handling a variety of situations. This will build practical skills that can be applied in day to day interactions as well as particularly stressful or difficult conflict resolution scenarios.

The program draws on examples from a variety of sources, including Multinational Corporations, American prisons, the Rwandan Genocide, Tax Audits, and Hostage Negotiations.

Examples brought up during the course include:

- How a part of your brain tricks you into never publishing that book you’re secretly writing.

- Why we have the same argument with our partner every Tuesday.

- Why bad relationships with superiors are the number one reason for people leaving their jobs.

- What a financial auditor and a youth hostel receptionist have in common.

- How a failing football team helped counsel a hot-headed employee.

- How a fifty year old woman stopped a prison riot, and why is this important.

- Where most de-escalation programs fail, and what we can do about it.

- Why a web designer places a purple rose on every website she makes.

Courses are available in mainland Europe, the UK and Cyprus, in German or English.

The price for a seminar is €2.000,- plus travel expenses.
